Matteo Grassotto

Matteo Grassotto (born March 14, 1980 in Asolo ) is an Italian racing driver .

Career

Like most motorsport enthusiasts, Grassotto began his career in karting , where he was active from 1992 to 1998. He also made his first experiences in formula racing in 1998 and immediately became runner-up in the Italian Formula Renault Campus. In 1999 he won the championship title of the Italian F3 Federale . In 2000 he switched to the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and finished third in the championship with two wins behind Felipe Massa and Charles Zwolsman junior . He also took part in four races of the Italian Formula Renault.

In 2001 he switched to the German Formula 3 championship and finished eleventh overall with two podium finishes. In 2002 Grassotto competed in the Euro 3000 and finished seventh with two podium finishes. In 2003 the Italian stayed in this series and improved to fourth overall with four podium finishes.

After Grassotto 2004 had initially found no cockpit, he denied the last two races of the season in the Formula 3000 for of Durango supervised team AEZ Racing . The Italian replaced his compatriot Raffaele Giammaria . Grassotto took one point and finished 18th overall. In 2005 he was not given a cockpit in the Formula 3000 successor series GP2 and only competed in one race of the Italian Formula 3000, the successor series to the Euro 3000.

After a two-year break, Grassotto returned to motorsport in 2008 and was instantly champion of the GT3 class of the Italian GT Championship . In 2009 he stayed in the Italian GT championship and finished fifth in the GT3 class.
