Matteo Iachino (born September 22, 1989 in Savona ) is an Italian windsurfer . After Antoine Albeau and Bjørn Dunkerbeck had negotiated the last 16 slalom titles among themselves, he was able to break this dominance in the 2016 season .

biography

Iachino started windsurfing at the age of ten, which his father taught him. In the 2009 season he competed in the Windsurf World Cup for the first time and finished 37th in the slalom classification. After increasing his level in the years to come, he led the slalom rankings before the last event in Nouméa ( New Caledonia ). There he had to admit defeat due to his 10th place, serial winner Antoine Albeau . In the coming year he was able to win the title and became the first slalom world champion in the past 17 years, who is not Antoine Albeau or Bjørn Dunkerbeck . In the following three seasons he was runner-up, two behind Albeau ( 2017 and 2018 ) and once behind Pierre Mortefon ( 2019 )
