Matthäus Cornelius Münch , from 1848 von Münch (born September 14, 1771 in Thengenstadt ; † January 12, 1853 in Unlingen ), was a German Roman Catholic priest and educator .

Life

Münch studied at the University of Innsbruck and was ordained a priest in 1799. From 1805 to 1827 he was pastor in Gattnau . From 1809 he was a school inspector . On October 25, 1826, he was appointed rector of the newly founded Gmünder teachers' seminar . He is considered the founding rector of the institute, which began teaching as early as 1825. According to Reinhard Kuhnert, his views on teacher training are considered modern today.

In 1830 he went back to Gattnau as a school inspector. In 1848 he was awarded the Order of the Württemberg Crown with the rank of knight. This gave him personal nobility . Munch was in the cemetery buried by Unlingen.
