Matthew Bullock (born November 1, 1980 in Stoke-on-Trent ) is a retired English football player .

Career

Bullock played in the youth division of Stoke City , in the 1996/97 season he came to the England U-16 national team alongside the later national players Ledley King , Scott Parker , Steven Gerrard and Francis Jeffers for two international appearances against France (September, 0 : 1) and Sweden (February, 0-0). Bullock signed his first professional contract in November 1997 shortly after his 17th birthday. He came to a number of appearances in right midfield in the first team under coach Gary Megson in the fall of 1999 of the 1999/2000 third division season . After a total of seven missions, four of them on the grid, the takeover of the club by an Icelandic consortium and the commitment of the Icelandic Guðjón Þórðarson as the new coach in November 1999 ensured that he returned to the reserve team.

Bullock, who compensated his speed deficits with high footballing ability, was loaned to the fourth division Macclesfield Town for a month in October 2001 after a full season in the reserve team, in which he was also disabled by knee problems . He had already played at Stoke with the local trainer Kevin Keen and their striker Kyle Lightbourne . Despite a promising debut against Hartlepool United , Bullock only made two appearances for Macclesfield before returning to his home club. At Stoke his contract was dissolved in January 2002 and Bullock subsequently joined Leek Town in the Northern Premier League . After 24 competitive appearances (1 goal) for Leek Town, his following positions in English non-league football were from October 2002 the league competitor Stocksbridge Park Steels , from summer 2003 FC Buxton in the Northern Counties East League .
