Matthew Pearl

Matthew Pearl (born October 2, 1977 in New York City ) is an American literary scholar and writer .

Life

Pearl studied after school at the University School of Nova Southeastern University , Harvard College and law at the Law School of Yale University . After graduating, he became a lecturer in creative writing and literature at Emerson College and Harvard University.

In his novels he often deals with well-known authors and their works such as Dante Alighieri and the Divine Comedy , Edgar Allan Poe and the detective character Dupin or Charles Dickens created by him . In 2003 his novel The Dante Club was also published in German translation under the title Der Dante-Club . Other novels by him are The Poe Shadow (The Hour of the Raven, 2007) as well as The Last Dickens (The Final Chapter, 2011) and The Technologists (2012).
