Giacomo Barabino

Giacomo Barabino (born April 4, 1928 in Livellato di Ceranesi ; † May 25, 2016 ) was Bishop of Ventimiglia-San Remo .

Life

Giacomo Barabino entered the Chiappeto Minor Seminary in Genoa in 1940. After his theological training he received on June 29, 1952 in the Cathedral of Genoa by the Archbishop of Genoa , Giuseppe Siri , the ordination . He worked as a pastor in Pegli and San Siro in Nervi. On July 14, 1953, he became the Archbishop's personal secretary and remained so for 20 years.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on May 16, 1974 auxiliary bishop in Bobbio-San Colombano and titular bishop of Rebellum . The Archbishop of Genoa, Giuseppe Cardinal Siri, donated him episcopal ordination on June 24th of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Secondo Chiocca , Auxiliary Bishop in Genoa, and Giuseppe Amari , Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Niger and Apostolic Delegate in Mali and Mauritania .

On September 30, 1986 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Genoa-Bobbio by Pope John Paul II . On December 7, 1988, he was appointed Bishop of Ventimiglia-San Remo. On March 20, 2004, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
