Matthias Artaria
Matthias Artaria (* 1793 in Vienna ; † April 22, 1835 ibid) was a major art dealer and music publisher in Vienna. However, he belongs to the Mannheim line of the family, a partnership in the Viennese company Artaria no longer existed.
Life
Matthias was the son of the art publisher Domenico Artaria (1765–1823), who founded Artaria & Fontaine , a company known throughout Europe, in Mannheim . Matthias Artaria became the company's representative in Vienna. There he bought his father-in-law Daniel Sprenger's art shop in 1818. In 1822 he founded the Matthias Artaria company , which operated until 1853.
As a music publisher, he published works by Franz Schubert and Beethoven , among whose friends he was.
