Matthias Drobinski

Matthias Drobinski (* 1964 ) is a German journalist .

Life

. The Catholic grew up in Upper Hesse and was involved in the church's youth work at an early age. After studying history , Catholic theology and German studies in Giessen and Mainz , he began training as a journalist at the Henri Nannen School in Hamburg.

Drobinski worked from 1993 as an editor for the German two-week newspaper Publik-Forum and later for Die Woche as well as for the Hessian and North German radio .

He has been writing for the Süddeutsche Zeitung in Munich since 1997, where he is responsible for churches and religious communities as a domestic political editor.

Private

Drobinski is the father of two children who were 16 and 19 years old in 2018.

Trivia

In July 2013, Drobinski obtained an injunction against the satirical magazine Eulenspiegel for associating him with homosexuality in an article about the gay lobby in the Vatican. As a result, the August issue of the magazine had to be taken off the market and has only been sold in blackened form since then.
