Matthias Hüppi

Matthias Hüppi (born March 29, 1958 in St. Gallen ) is President of FC St. Gallen . He became known as a Swiss presenter and sports reporter .

Hüppi, nephew of Federal Councilor Kurt Furgler and brother Michael Hüppis , studied law for four semesters after graduating from high school and then briefly worked as a reporter for Swiss radio DRS . From 1981 to 2017 he worked for Swiss television , from 1985 to 2017 he moderated the sports panorama , as well as the program sportaktuell and other sports events, including the recurring soccer world championship . From 1986 to 2017 he was a live commentator for Alpine skiing together with Bernhard Russi . On December 17, 2017, he hosted his last broadcast. He has been the full-time President of FC St. Gallen since January 15, 2018.

Because of his new ties to the city of St.Gallen, he was appointed OLMA ambassador in 2018.

In 2011, Hüppi was awarded the Eastern Switzerland Media Prize in the television category. He is married and has two grown daughters and one son.
