Matthias Körner (athlete)

Matthias Körner (born November 26, 1968 ) is a German marathon runner .

Sporting successes

Four times (1991, 1992, 1995 and 1997) he won the race around the Baldeneysee and is the record winner of this run. In 1993 he finished second there with his personal best of 2:17:39 h and won the Leipzig Marathon .

In 2000 he became the overall winner of the Rhein-Ruhr-Marathon, German marathon champion . In the following year he was fifth at the German half marathon championships , second at the Leipzig marathon and third at the German marathon championships held as part of the Frankfurt marathon , placing him 13th overall.

In 2004 he won the GutsMuths-Rennsteiglauf on the super marathon and in 2006 on the marathon course. As the overall winner of the Munich Marathon , he also achieved his second national title over this distance in 2006. In 2010 he won the half marathon competition of the Freiburg Marathon .

Career

Matthias Körner starts for the SC DHfK Leipzig . He has a doctorate in chemistry .
