Matthias Leckel (* 1953 ) is a German lawyer and was President of the Federal Office for Infrastructure, Environmental Protection and Services of the Bundeswehr from 2012 to 2016 .

Life

After completing his studies, Leckel was initially employed as a law teacher and advisor at the Technical Troop 2 School in Bremen from 1984 to 1987 . Subsequently, he was a legal advisor and military disciplinary attorney at the military district command II in Hanover until 1989 . From 1989 to 1991, Leckel worked as a consultant in the Federal Ministry of Defense , where he dealt with complaints from NCOs . He then moved to the Federal Chancellery , Department New Federal States .

From 1993 to 1995, Leckel was the personal assistant to the Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister of Defense, Michaela Geiger, and then Head of Division for matters relating to conscripts and for basic matters relating to the budget of the Federal Armed Forces, both in the Defense Ministry. From 1998 to 2008 he worked as a sub-department head for the organization of the defense administration and the establishment and operation of properties in the Ministry of Defense. In addition, from 2004 to 2008 he was special representative for public-private partnerships on infrastructure issues.

From 2008 to 2012, Leckel was the last President of the Federal Office for Defense Administration and, after its dissolution, became the first President of the newly formed Federal Office for Infrastructure, Environmental Protection and Services of the Bundeswehr from 2012. On December 6, 2012, Matthias Leckel with a ceremony by the Secretary of State in the Federal Ministry of Defense, Gerd Hoofe in the retirement adopted.
