Matthias Luthardt
Matthias Luthardt (* 1972 in Leiden , Netherlands ) is a German film director .
Life
After studying German, Romance languages and rhetoric in Tübingen, Paris and Hamburg (Master's thesis on Krzysztof Kieslowski's films ), Luthardt studied film directing at the Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television in Potsdam - Babelsberg and completed the master class for young European film producers in Ludwigsburg and Paris. His debut film Pingpong premiered in 2006 at the International Critics' Week "Semaine de la Critique" in Cannes and received several awards there and at other international film festivals (see below). Luthardt co-directed the documentary film Jesus loves you (Premiere Perspektive Deutsches Kino, Berlinale 2008 ) and directed the novel The Day I Met My Dead Man (SWR, debut in the third year 2008).
At the Berlinale 2009 , Luthardt was the jury chairman in the section "Perspektive Deutsches Kino" for the Franco-German Prize Dialogue en perspective .
In addition to working as a director and author, Matthias Luthardt teaches at film schools and Goethe Institutes in Germany and abroad.
In 2011, on behalf of Tom Tykwer and One Fine Day Films , he accompanied the development of the story and the shooting of a film in Nairobi / Kenya as a mentoring director.
Luthardt is a member of the European Film Academy .
