Matthias Schläpfer

Matthias Schläpfer (born March 30, 1763 in Trogen ; † May 6, 1830 in Lyon ; resident in Trogen) was a Swiss businessman , entrepreneur and consul from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Michael Schläpfer was a son of Michael Schläpfer, presumably a bleach owner , and Anna Barbara Sturzenegger. In 1800 he married Anna Barbara Heidegger, daughter of Johann Heinrich Heidegger. Until 1813 he was managing director of Jacob Zellweger's trading house in Genoa . After that he was probably the owner of his own trading company. From 1806 to 1819 he was the Swiss trade commissioner. From 1819 to 1830 he was the first Swiss consul in Genoa. He was a co-founder of the evangelical church capella protestante in Genoa.
