Matthias Schmitt (composer)

Matthias Schmitt (born January 17, 1958 ) is a German musician, music teacher and composer.

Life

Schmitt attended the Matthias-Grünewald-Gymnasium in Würzburg until 1978 . He then studied at the Würzburg Herman-Zilcher Conservatory; with piano as a major and clarinet as a minor. He studied drums at the University of Music Würzburg (HfM Würzburg). He composed numerous pieces of music, especially for marimba and vibraphone .

Schmitt sometimes played bass with the Würzburg thrash metal band Paradox . In 1988 until shortly before the split in 1996 he was a member of the pop group Relax . Since 1995 he has been running his own Clavis music school in Zellingen . At the HfM Würzburg he teaches school ensemble practice (percussion).

Matthias Schmitt is one of the authors of the standard work Rock-Pop-Keyboard: Schule für Keyboard & Synthesizer from Schott Verlag , which appeared in various editions from 1988.
