Matthias Schwab (born June 13, 1986 in Zell am See ) is a former Austrian ice hockey player who last played for the Black Wings Linz in the Austrian ice hockey league .

Career

Matthias Schwab began his career at EK Zell am See , where his older brother Thomas Schwab also plays. He was national league champion in 2002/03 and has played for the Austrian national team since the U14 . He took part in two U18 World Championships in Division I in 2003 and 2004 and achieved a fifth and a third place there. From 2004 he played in the squad of EC Red Bull Salzburg , where he was increasingly used in the Bundesliga in the 2006/07 season. From the 2007/08 season he was able to establish himself firmly in the squad of the Bundesliga team. Schwab was champion of the Austrian Ice Hockey Bundesliga (EBEL) in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on November 1, 2007 when the Red Bulls Salzburg played against the Vienna Capitals . He played the 2009/10 season with the EC Graz 99ers , before moving to the Upper Austrian club EHC Black Wings Linz . In 2011, Schwab ended his professional career due to an injury and a lack of financially attractive offers.
