Matthias Wallner is a former Austrian ski jumper .

From 1992 Wallner was part of the Austrian squad for the newly created Ski Jumping Continental Cup . Since he was able to occupy 18th place in the overall ranking with 49 points in the first season 1992/93 and in 6th place with 425 points in the overall ranking of the 1993/94 season, he made his debut in ski jumping on January 6, 1994 World Cup . At the Dreikönigsspringen in Bischofshofen he jumped to 47th place. Three days later, in Murau, with 9th place , he made it into the top ten for the first time. He also won his first World Cup points and thus achieved his highest individual placement of his career in the Ski Jumping World Cup.

On January 22, 1994 Wallner set the hill record in the last Continental Cup competition on the Copper Peak flying hill in Ironwood with 158 m, which his compatriot Werner Schuster set on January 23, 1994. Both still hold this hill record today, as the hill was closed after jumping.

In the following years he landed again and again within the points. However, he did not achieve podium placements or victories. His best season was the 1995/96 World Cup season , in which he took 50th place in the overall World Cup ranking and 45th place in the jump ranking. Two years later he was successful again in the Continental Cup. For the 1997/98 season he was able to achieve his best result in this series with fifth place in the overall standings. In his last season, however, he was unable to achieve any further successes and ended his active ski jumping career in 1999 after the end of the season in the Continental and World Cup. Matthias Wallner still lives in St. Johann in Tirol, where he works as a chimney sweep.
