Mattias Benzelstierna

Mattias Benzelstierna (born September 18, 1713 in Lund , † March 11, 1791 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish civil servant .

Live and act

Mattias Benzelstierna was a son of the Lutheran theology professor and later Archbishop Jakob Benzelius . In 1747 he was ennobled and since then has been called Benzelstierna , like several of his uncles. He studied together with Carl von Linné at the University of Lund . Later he was Chief Postal Director and from 1759 State Secretary. Benzelstierna became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1786 and an honorary member of the Kungliga Vitterhets Historie och Antikvitets Academies .
