Matungao ( Filipino : Bayan ng Matungao ) is a Filipino municipality in the province of Lanao del Norte , administrative region X, Northern Mindanao. It has 13,975 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who lived in 12 barangays . It is classified as a fifth income class community in the Philippines and as a village .
Matungao is located in the interior of the province, approx. 18 km southwest of Iligan City and is accessible via the coastal road. Its neighboring communities are Poona Piagapo in the west, Linamon in the north, Baloi in the east, and Pantao Ragat in the south.
