Mau Heymans (* 14. April 1961 in Veldhoven ) is a Dutch writer and artist of Disney - Comics . He and his older brother Bas Heymans are among the most prolific and well-known Disney cartoonists in their country.

Life

In his childhood, Mau Heymans read Disney comics with enthusiasm. He was particularly fascinated by the works of Carl Barks and Daniel Branca .

Mau Heymans later lived with his brother Bas in Amsterdam , where they made underground comixes together . At this time, Mau Heymans discovered Disney comic books in a second-hand bookshop that he had known from his childhood. He thought he could match some of the newer cartoonists. Animated by the idea of ​​being able to earn a living as a comic artist, Heymans started to draw autodidactically . It was almost a year before he was reasonably satisfied with his work. On his grandmother's advice, Heymans sent the comic to Oberon Verlag. He invited Mau Heymans and finally commissioned him to illustrate a story written by Jan Kruse . Mau Heymans has been writing and drawing Duck stories for this publisher since 1987 .
