Maukope "Mau" Penisula (born May 15, 1979 in the Marshall Islands ) is a Tuvaluan football player . He plays in the position of defender and was also the captain of the Tuvaluan football and futsal team . With 14 appearances he is the record player of the Tuvaluan national team .

Career

Mau played for Tofaga A from 1999 to 2011 , and won 8 titles with that team. In 2012 he moved to All Whites FC , a football club from Fiji , and in 2013 to Addisbrough FC . In 2020 he joined the Fijian club Nasinu FC at the age of 41 .

International

Mau made his debut for Tuvalu in the game against Kiribati at the 2003 South Pacific Games. He played all four games in that tournament. In 2007 Mau was back at the South Pacific Games . In 2011 he was the captain of the Pacific Games under Foppe de Haan and was used in all 5 matches. The team finished fourth in Group A.

Mau was twice at the OFC Futsal Championship . He supported his country in 12 games, all of which were lost.
