The Maud ( ship identification A530) is a supply ship of the Kongelige Norske Marine . The ship is named after Maud of Great Britain and Ireland , the first queen of the independent Kingdom of Norway .

General

The Maud was commissioned in 2013 from the South Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering . She is a smaller variant of the Tide class built by the same shipyard for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary . The ship was launched on June 4, 2016 from the pile and was passed on 16 November 2018, the Norwegian Navy. The first functional proofs and tests were already completed on the transfer trip to Norway. After a stopover in Willemstad , the Maud entered Haakonsvern , the home base, on March 29, 2019 . There the ship was put into service on May 21, 2019.

Range of use

The Maud is primarily intended to supply warships with operating materials , consumables, provisions and ammunition and can also deliver these goods by sea . In addition, the ship is intended for SAR and humanitarian missions . The Maud can carry two helicopters and has a hospital with 48 beds.
