Maureen Mmadu (born May 7, 1975 in Onitsha ) is a former Nigerian soccer player and current coach . The midfielder was the first African woman to play 100 international matches for the Nigerian national soccer team and took part in four World Cups and two Olympic Games.

Mmadu first played for several years in the Nigerian women's league and then in the Norwegian and Swedish leagues for Sandviken IL , Klepp IL , Amazon Grimstad FK , Linköpings FC , Kolbotn IL and as team captain for Avaldsnes IL , where she is now assistant coach for the first and Head coach of the second team.

National team

Mmadu played in the Nigerian women's national soccer team from 1993 to 2008 , which won the women's African championship six times during that time . In 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2007 she was in the Nigerian World Cup squad and played seven World Cup games, but was not used in 1999. In 2000 and 2004 it took part in the Olympic Games and was used in five games. It was already mentioned by FIFA in the “FIFA Hundred Club” list published in August 2009 with 101 international matches between 1993 and 2009. In the Nigerian international match statistics of FIFA, however, no matches are listed in 1993 and only 92 matches between 1994 and 2009. It was not used in 10 of these 92 games, according to FIFA match reports.
