Maurice Cammage

Maurice Cammage (* 1882 , † April 15, 1946 in Paris ) was a French film director and occasional producer and screenwriter .

Life

The Cammage, largely unknown in German-speaking Europe (none of his films saw a German-language screening after the war) made almost forty feature films between 1932 and 1943, mostly comedies , often with strong female roles. He directed Mady Berry and other female stars of the black and white sound film era several times . But he also shot several times with important male comedians like Fernandel , especially at the beginning of his career; military comedies are also among his works. His film L'Innocent with Noël-Noël was listed among the nominated works for the award of the best foreign language film at the Venice Film Festival in 1938 . Cammage was also involved in the script on three occasions; his five women's films in 1936 and 1937 were produced by him (as was another production in 1939) himself.
