Maurice Evans McLoughlin (born January 7, 1890 in Carson City , Nevada , † December 10, 1957 in Hermosa Beach , California ) was an American tennis player .

biography

The red-haired serve and volley player played an attractive tennis for the audience with his hard serve and volley.

He had his best time from 1909 to 1916, when he won the American championships in the men's singles in 1912 and 1913 , was in the finals three more times (1911, 1914, 1915) and from 1912 to 1914 he also won the men's doubles. He also made it to the final of Wimbledon in 1913 , where he was defeated by Anthony Wilding . In 1957 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame . From 1909 to 1914 he was a member of the American Davis Cup team.

In 1919 he ended his career as a tennis player and turned to golf .
