Maurilio Minuzzi (born March 9, 1939 in Pramaggiore , Veneto , Italy) is a painter , graphic artist and sculptor who lives and works in Cologne .

Live and act

From 1955 to 1957, Minuzzi attended the Scuola Superiore d'arte Applicata in Milan with a major in "Drawing according to nature" with Carlo Russi. After an apprenticeship as a draftsman (1957 to 1959) and attending the Silvio Pellico engineering school in Milan, he worked in various professions. In 1965 he went to Germany and from 1966 to 1970 he enrolled at the Cologne factory schools . There he studied a. a. with Alfred Will ten semesters of free graphics. After completing his studies and doing freelance work in the Rhineland, in 1972 he was appointed lecturer for "printmaking techniques" (etching, lithography, offset, wood and linocut) at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences for Art and Design. He worked there until the courses for "free" art were closed (with the establishment of the Art Academy for Media (KHM) ).

Minuzzi's works - mostly (color) etchings and aquatints - but also objects and installations, are of captivating precision. His predilection for surrealists (like Max Ernst and Magritte ) can hardly be overlooked. Maurilio Minuzzi's drawings, impressions and landscapes are convincing - partly through alienated coloring, partly through imaginary compositions and combinations - and follow their own rules. His color etching "FairObst" (49.5 × 39.5 cm, 200 copies) was published on behalf of the Federal Minister of the Interior for the 1975 Environment Day .

In the 40 years of his artistic activity he had well over 100 solo exhibitions in Europe and the USA. In 1994 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in the Cavaliere class.
