Maurycy Janowski

Maurycy Janowski (born August 19, 1919 in Poland , † July 11, 1973 in the GDR ) was a Polish writer , screenwriter and dramaturge , who was mainly known in East Germany.

Janowski initially wrote song texts for musicals, such as, together with Otto Schneidereit, the libretto for the musical In Frisco the Devil is Losing by Guido Masanetz , which premiered on November 17, 1956 in the Berlin Metropol Theater . With the librettist Heinz Kufferath, he worked on the textbook for the comedy operetta The Instructor Should Marry under the shared pseudonym Jan Hall , for which Guido Masanetz also wrote the music. Since 1961 he has worked as a dramaturge and screenwriter at the DEFA Studio for Feature Films , where he was responsible for various feature films such as The Man Who Came After Grandma (1971).
