Mouse cliff
The mice cliff , even Mauseklippe called, is a rock formation of granite in the resin . It is located near Schierke in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt . As with many Harz granite rocks, the typical wool sack weathering can also be seen here .
Geographical location
The Mäuseklippe is located in the Hochharz in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park . It is located 0.8 km south of Schierke , a district of Wernigerode , and 2.2 km northwest of Elend , a district of Oberharz am Brocken , at about 660 m above sea level. NHN on the northwest flank of the wooded Barenberg ( 695.5 m ); the cliff belongs to the urban area of Wernigerode. The landscape drops to the northeast into the valley of the Kalten Bode , which is fed by the small tributary Braune Wasser running northwest past the formation . In the southeastern neighborhood, a little closer to the Barenberg, are the Schnarcherklippen and to the southwest the Scherstorklippen .
Hiking and climbing
From Schierke, the Mäuseklippe can be easily reached via Harz hiking trail 30E (yellow triangle). The formation serves as a climbing rock. From the easily climbed cliffs there is a view of the Renneckenberg and the Brocken.
