Max Gleschinski

Max Gleschinski (born December 30, 1993 in Rostock ) is a German film director . He became known with his feature film debut Kahlschlag , which won the New German Cinema Award at the Hof International Film Festival in 2018 .

Life

Max Gleschinski grew up in Rostock and began to try out stop-motion and short films while at school . In 2012 he graduated from high school in the inner city and completed a one-year internship at the Institute for New Media. From 2013 to 2017 he studied English, American and philosophy at the University of Rostock . In addition to his studies, he worked in a video library and began his freelance work as a filmmaker in 2014. After completing his bachelor's degree, Max Gleschinski founded Von Anfang Anders Filmproduktion together with Jean-Pierre Meyer-Gehrke in 2017 in order to produce the joint debut feature film Kahlschlag .

Kahlschlag was financed without a film college or television station with funds from the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Cultural Film Fund , the Hanseatic Community Foundation Rostock, a successful Startnext campaign and sponsors from the economy. The shooting took place exclusively in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in autumn 2017 . Florian Bartholomäi , Bernhard Conrad , Maike Johanna Reuter , Petra Nadolny and Jan Gorkow stood in front of the camera . After the world premiere on October 24, 2018, Kahlschlag won the New German Cinema Award at the Hof International Film Festival . On March 5, 2020, Kahlschlag started in cinemas across Germany after a one-year, Europe-wide festival trip.

Max Gleschinski lives and works as an author and director in Rostock. With Von Anfang Anders Filmproduktion, Max Gleschinski is also still active as a producer of music videos, advertising and feature films.
