Bernhard Conrad (* 1981 in Weimar ) is a German actor .

Life

Education and theater

Bernhard Conrad studied acting at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig from 2000 to 2004 . He completed his studies there with a diploma. During his studies he played at the Schauspiel Chemnitz and in his final year of study (2004) at the Staatstheater Stuttgart .

Before completing his studies, he also took on his first permanent engagement in Stuttgart in the 2003/04 season, where he was engaged until 2008. There he played u. a. Lucky in Waiting for Godot (2005; Director: Hasko Weber ), the senior lawyer Dr. jur. Conrad in Der Revisor (2005; directed by Volker Lösch ), Mephisto in Faust I (2005; directed by Hasko Weber), the Chevalier de Danceny in dangerous love affairs (2006; directed by Stephan Rottkamp ) and the Doktor in Woyzeck (2007; directed : Stephan Rottkamp).

In 2008 he went permanently to the Schauspiel Chemnitz, where he was engaged until 2013. There he stepped u. a. as Prince of Guastalla in Emilia Galotti (2008; director: Thomas Bischoff ), in the title role of Macbeth (2009; director: Bruno Cathomas ), as Tuzenbach in Drei Schwestern (2009; director: Enrico Lübbe ), in the title role of Peer Gynt (2011; directed by Claudia Bauer ) and as Jochanaan in Salome (2012; directed by Claudia Bauer).

In 2010 he played the role of Melchthal in Wilhelm Tell at the Bad Hersfeld Festival in a production by Holk Freytag . Since the 2013/14 season he has been guest at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin as Wagin in Kinder der Sonne in a production by Nurkan Erpulat . In the 2016/17 season he took on the role of Agamemnon in Peter Konwitschny's production Elektra at the Stuttgart State Opera . For the 2019/20 season, Conrad was hired as a permanent member of the ensemble at the Hanover Theater under the direction of Sonja Anders .

From 2008 to 2011 he was visiting lecturer at the University of Music and Theater "Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy" in Leipzig in the drama department. In 2016/2017 he taught at the State University for Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart in the acting department.

In 2009 he was nominated by the trade journal Theater heute as “Best Young Actor of the Year 2009” for his interpretation of Macbeth.

Movie and TV

Conrad has worked in numerous TV and cinema productions and in various short films since 2005. From 2011 Conrad intensified his activities in the film and television sector. He took on leading and supporting roles in several television films and series as well as continuous series and episode roles in numerous series formats on ARD and ZDF.

He had supporting roles in the movies Sources of Life (2013; Director: Oskar Roehler ) and in Die geliebte Schwestern (2014; Director Dominik Graf ), in the multi-part television film Our Mothers, Our Fathers (2013; Director: Philipp Kadelbach ) and in the Film adaptation of Juli Zeh's novel Schilf - Everything that is Conceivable Exists (2012, director: Claudia Lehmann ).

As a continuous leading role in the series, he played 2014-2015 in the television series Heiter bis tödlich: Monaco 110 the police master Gerd Frühling from East Germany.

In Polizeiruf 110: Ikarus (first broadcast: May 2015), he played Paul Riemann, the assistant to a successful engineer for solar modules, who suspects his fiancée of having a relationship with another man. In Polizeiruf 110: Im Schatten (first broadcast: October 2016) he played one of the male supporting roles, the young, formerly drug addict and professionally failed Daniel Angerer, who suspects that his stepsister has killed his father. In the ZDF crime series Stralsund , Conrad was seen in the film No Way Back (first broadcast: November 2017) in a supporting role as the rapist Robert Buch. In the ARD TV series Nord bei Nordwest (episode Sandy , first broadcast: January 2018), he played, together with Sebastian Fräsdorf , a pair of fraudsters who “confiscate” valuables in police uniform .

He also had episode roles a. a. in the television series Heiter bis tödlich: Morden im Norden (2012; as a mentally ill prop master and perpetrator Helge Kuhlmann), SOKO Leipzig (2015; as a suspected accomplice Wim Knötgen), last trace Berlin (2016; episode main role as Malte Wolf, alongside Burak Yiğit ), Alles Klara (2016; as a suspected mountain biker Martin Busch), Heldt (2016; as insurance detective Gernot Pütsch) and Die Kanzlei (2016–2017; as judge Holger Gabriel). In November 2017, Conrad was seen in the ZDF crime series SOKO Leipzig in a leading role as the online poker player Bruno Lehmann, the business partner of the murder victim. In the opening episode of the 10th season of the TV series SOKO Stuttgart (first broadcast: September 2018), he played a leading role in the episode as the suspect educator Elmar Schindlmeier, who works as a career changer in a daycare center .

Speakers and private matters

In addition to his work as an actor, Conrad occasionally also worked as a speaker for radio plays , for TV documentaries (including arte ) and for image films (including Förderkreis Neonatologie e.V.). Conrad lives in Berlin and Stuttgart.
