Hasko Weber

Hasko Weber (born December 10, 1963 in Dresden ) is a German actor , theater director and director .

Life

After graduating from high school, Weber initially did an apprenticeship as a machine and system fitter and then trained as an actor from 1985 to 1989 at the Leipzig Theater Academy and the studio of the Städtische Bühnen Karl-Marx-Stadt . In 1989 he got his first engagement as an actor and director there under artistic director Gerhard Meyer. In the same year he founded the theater group "Dramatische Brigade", an independently working group with connection to the theater, in which Weber gained his first experiences as a director.

In 1989 Weber was one of the organizers of the resistance against the GDR government at the Schauspiel Karl-Marx-Stadt / Chemnitz . After completing his studies, Weber received a guest engagement as an actor at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden in 1990 and, from the 1991/92 season, was permanently engaged by director Dieter Görne at the same theater as an actor with directing duties for the following two years. From 1993 to 2001 he was acting director at the Dresden Theater.

Since 1998 Weber has also made guest appearances on various stages and continued his work as a freelance director after his work in Dresden. He has staged in Karlsruhe , Saarbrücken , Mannheim , Lübeck , Tübingen and at the Berliner Ensemble, among others .

In 2002 Weber was appointed director Friedrich Schirmer to the Stuttgart theater , where he became in-house director the following year. In the 2005/06 season he succeeded Schirmer and took over acting director at the Stuttgart State Theater . There he was the director of the world premiere of Missionen der Schönheit by Sibylle Berg on September 30, 2010 . He opened the renovated Schauspiel Stuttgart on February 17, 2012 with Schiller's Don Karlos .

Weber has been General Director at the Weimar National Theater since August 2013 . In addition, he has been chairman of the directors' group of the German Stage Association since 2016.

In 2019 he remembered the fall of the Berlin Wall 30 years ago at the National Theater Weimar with a temporary construction of the wall. In the art project Horizons, the wall changes its appearance in 10 days through projections and thus becomes a symbol of commonality between different people.

Weber's production of Henrik Ibsen's “Brand” won the Bavarian Theater Prize in 2002 , while the Schauspiel Stuttgart was named Theater of the Year in 2006 under his directorship .
