Holk Freytag
Holk Freytag (born September 29, 1943 in Tübingen ) is a German dramaturge , director and artistic director .
Live and act
Freytag grew up in Cologne and Moers . After graduating from high school in Cologne, he studied theater and musicology at the University of Cologne from 1964 to 1969 . From 1968 to 1969 he headed the theater cellar in Neuss and from 1969 to 1977 was a lecturer in media education at the comprehensive university in Düsseldorf .
Freytag founded the Schlosstheater Moers in 1975 and was director there from the time it was founded until 1988. He also worked from 1977 to 1979 as a director and chief dramaturge at the Hildesheim City Theater . From 1988 to 1996 he was general director of the Wuppertaler Bühnen and from 1996 to 2001 he was acting director of the Schillertheater (North Rhine-Westphalia) . From 2001 to 2009 he was the artistic director of the Dresden State Theater .
Since the 2010 festival season, Freytag took over the management of the Bad Hersfeld Festival . On July 28, 2014 , Freytag was dismissed without notice by the city administration of Bad Hersfeld. The reason given was that Freytag had disregarded the budget resolution of the city council for the Hersfeld Festival 2015 when submitting the program for 2015. Presumably it was about 400,000 euros, which the director should save in the 2015 season.
In the meantime, however, Holk Freytag is considered rehabilitated and has taken over the staging of Kleist's Der zerbrochne Krug at the Bad Hersfeld Festival 2015 under the new artistic director Dieter Wedel .
