Jan Gorkow
Jan Gorkow (born September 1987 in Neubrandenburg ), better known by his nickname Monchi , is the singer of the punk band Feine Sahne Fischfilet .
Life
Jan Gorkow grew up in Jarmen , a West Pomeranian country town near Greifswald , as the son of a building contractor and a dentist. From his youth he was an enthusiastic fan of Hansa Rostock and initially moved in hooligan and ultra circles. At the age of 19 he set fire to a police car in Stendal and was given a suspended sentence for it. His nickname "Monchi" came from the fact that in the eyes of his friends at the time his plump face and dark hair reminded him of a Monchhichi .
At the age of 20, he and school friends founded the punk band Feine Sahne Fischfilet. Since he did not play an instrument, he was hired as a singer by chance. He was politically left and anti-fascist. During this time he first broke with Hansa Rostock, but returned to his love for his football club on the band's later albums.
His band developed from a DIY band that was observed by the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Office for the Protection of the Constitution because of alleged left-wing extremist statements , to a very successful German band that now plays in stadiums. Gorkow became a figurehead of the left scene, which was ensured by both his political orientation and his imposing appearance.
In 2017, Gorkow was accused of throwing chairs at a group of right-wing extremists on the sidelines of a counter-demonstration against a right-wing extremist event. A subsequent charge of trespassing ended with an acquittal by the Güstrow district court .
In 2013 Gorkow took part in the project 16 × Germany by the actor and director Charly Hübner . A little later, the plan arose to make a documentary about fine cream fish fillet, which in the end was mainly about Gorkow and his life story. The film Wildes Herz was released in German cinemas on April 12, 2017.
Together with Sido , Gorkow released the single Life Before Death on August 2, 2019 . The song reached number 22 in the German charts on August 9, 2019.
Others
In 2019 Gorkow appeared in an extra role in the television film Polizeiruf 110: Kindwohl .
Jan Gorkow is involved in the "MV for Kobane" initiative.
In October 2016 was Jan Gorkow in the Pro 7 telecast applause and out! of the stand-up comedian Oliver Polak .
