16 × Germany - People, Places, Stories is a documentary film produced by ARD that consists of 16 short films in which various authors each dedicate themselves to one of the 16 federal states of the Federal Republic of Germany .

Emergence

In 2010 the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb) produced the film 20 × Brandenburg - People, Places, Stories , which consisted of 20 short films by 20 filmmakers , for the 20th birthday of the State of Brandenburg . According to the same model, ARD created a documentary film for the Day of German Unity 2013 in which 20 well-known actors and directors report in 15-minute documentary films about the region they come from or the federal state in which they live.

This resulted in 16 short films about 16 federal states, which report subjectively and emotionally from the point of view of the individual "makers". All nine state broadcasters of the ARD participated in this film project .
