Max Kaufmann

Max Kaufmann (born February 22, 1905 in Buus ; † November 3, 1973 in Hemmiken ) was a Swiss politician .

Life

Kaufmann attended the district school in Böckten and then graduated from the agricultural school in Liestal . He worked as a farmer . From 1935 to 1948 he was in the Basel district administrator and represented the peasant party , from 1948 to 1949 he was chief judge and from 1950 to 1967 he was a member of the government council . He was responsible for the Interior Office, from 1959 on construction and agriculture. In 1972/1973 he was mayor of Hemmiken.

Kaufmann campaigned for agricultural issues, including the consolidation of goods and field regulations . From 1940 he sat on the board and from 1948 to 1949 he was vice-president of the Association of Northwestern Switzerland Milk Cooperatives.

His tenure as government councilor fell into a growth phase, which is why he was responsible for the planning and in some cases for the construction of large projects such as the Bruderholz Cantonal Hospital and the Liestal Cantonal Hospital , the Birsfelden power plant , the Basel technical center or the A2 , the layout of which also earned him criticism was.
