Max Keller (born October 7, 1770 in Trostberg , Upper Bavaria, † December 16, 1855 in Altötting ) was a German composer and organist .

Life

From around 1780 Keller was a choirboy in the Seeon Benedictine monastery , where he also received his scientific and musical training. There he became organist in 1788, at the same time he was a student of Michael Haydn in Salzburg . In 1799 he went to Burghausen as organist and in 1801 as electoral chapel organist to Altötting, where he stayed until his retirement in 1851.

Works

As a church composer he created masses (especially German), litanies , Advent songs and small organ pieces. He mainly created works for churches with limited circumstances: masses for one or two voices with organ and optional horns.
