Max Ludwig (writer)
Paul Max Ludwig (born October 8, 1873 in Dresden , † January 7, 1940 in Seefeld-Oberalting ) was a German writer, painter and graphic artist.
Live and act
Ludwig married in 1903 and moved to Frankfurt am Main in the same year . From 1907 he lived in Gutach , in 1911 he moved to Munich and Seefeld-Oberalting.
As a painter, he mainly created landscape paintings and portraits .
His most important graphic work is a Beethoven cycle of 31 etchings, which were created between 1925 and 1926. He also created lithographs on Romeo and Juliet , Macbeth and Michael Kohlhaas as well as etchings on the subject of Antonius and Cleopatra .
