action

The teenager Max McGrath moves back with his mother to the town of Copper Canyon, where Max's father worked as a scientist. Shortly after Max was born, he died in a mysterious accident. Strange things suddenly happen to Max at his new school. His body begins to generate bursts of energy that it cannot control. The uncontrollable power eventually becomes so strong that those around him distance themselves from it. So does Sofia, the girl he is in love with. Soon the energy his body produces hurts him so badly that he almost dies. Steel, an alien cybernetic life form, saves him shortly before he passes out. The two discover that they can control the energy when connected to each other. Max and the extraterrestrial being enter into a symbiosis and become the superhero Max Steel. The two dissimilar friends soon begin to uncover the secrets surrounding the death of Max's father and together they have to take up the fight against mysterious forces that threaten the world.

reception

Reviews

The film has so far failed to convince any Rotten Tomatoes critic .

“[...] We would have expected a more exciting showdown even from a serial pilot for Super RTL - and for a Hollywood superhero film (even on a tight budget) such an end point is absolutely unacceptable. Conclusion: Hanebuchen, interchangeable, boring - at the latest in the times of the Marvel Cinematic Universe we can do without a pale superhero like Max Steel. "
