Max Zimmermann (born November 24, 1900 , † after 1956) was a German politician . From 1950 to 1956 he was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Zimmermann, the son of a worker, attended elementary school and worked as a farm worker and until 1937 as a coachman in the Großröhrsdorf brewery . From 1939 to 1945 he did military service in the Wehrmacht . After the Second World War , the land reform gave him a new farmer's position in Großröhrsdorf in what was then the Kamenz district . In 1946 he joined the Association of Mutual Farmers Aid (VdgB) and the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). Zimmermann was VdgB district chairman of Kamenz and in June 1949 became regional chairman of the VdgB of Saxony. On July 1, 1949, he was elected to the board of the VdgB at the 2nd German Farmers' Day in East Berlin . From 1951 to December 1955 he was deputy chairman of the VdgB and at the same time chairman of the central revision commission of the VdgB. In December 1955 he lost all political offices.

In October 1950 and October 1954 he was elected to the People's Chamber as a member of the VdgB parliamentary group. On January 18, 1956, the notification of the expiry of the mandate took place. On January 22, 1951, he was elected to the board of the society at the 3rd congress of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship (DSF). In 1951 he was awarded the honorary title of master builder . In 1954 he was LPG chairman in Großröhrsdorf.

In March 1955, by decision of the Central Party Control Commission (ZPKK) , he received a warning from the Politburo of the SED Central Committee “for deceiving the party”. He had concealed a previous conviction from 1937. In addition, the Politburo demanded that he be released from the position of chairman of the VdgB's revision commission, since the double function of deputy chairman of the VdgB's central board and, at the same time, chairman of the revision commission should not be exercised by one and the same comrade.
