Maxim Borissowitsch Pitschugin ( Russian Максим Борисович Пичугин ; born October 30, 1974 in Novokuznetsk ) is a former Russian cross-country skier .

Career

Pitschugin started internationally for the first time at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1994 in Breitenwang , where he was tenth over 30 km freestyle and seventh over 10 km classic. He ran his first of a total of 27 individual World Cup races in December 1994 in Tauplitzalm , which he finished classically in 60th place over 15 km. In the same month he got his first World Cup points in Sappada with the 27th place over 15 km freestyle. In the 1996/97 season he achieved two placements in the points, 48th place in the overall World Cup, his best overall result. He achieved his best individual result in the World Cup at the 1997 World Championships in Trondheim with 13th place over 30 km freestyle. In addition, he came there on 41st place over 50 km classic and 13th place over 30 km freestyle. In December 1997 he won the World Cup in Santa Caterina Valfurva with the relay. At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , he finished 39th over 30 km classic and 37th over 50 km freestyle. He completed his last World Cup race in January 2000 in Moscow , which he finished in 42nd place over 30 km freestyle.
