Maxim Wiktorowitsch Sidorow ( Russian Максим Викторович Сидоров , English transcription Maksim Viktorovich Sidorov ; born May 13, 1986 in Moscow ) is a Russian shot putter .

Sidorow won the bronze medal at the European Athletics Junior Championships in Kaunas in 2005. He participated in the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2009 in Turin, the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin and the 2010 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Doha without qualifying for a final. He only succeeded in doing this at the 2011 European Indoor Athletics Championships , where he won the bronze medal behind the Germans Ralf Bartels and David Storl . At the World Athletics Championships in Daegu , he was eliminated again after qualifying. In 2012 he finished fifth at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Istanbul . At the Olympic Games in London he was eleventh.

Sidorow has been the Russian shot put champion four times: in 2009 and 2011 outdoors and in 2010 and 2012 indoors.

doping

Sidorow was banned for one year in 2017 because of a doping test positive for indapamide , the ban applies retrospectively from July 3, 2017.
