Maxim Wladimirowitsch Turow ( Russian Максим Владимирович Туров , at the World Chess Federation FIDE Maxim Turov ; born December 7, 1979 in Gukowo ) is a Russian chess master .

Life

Turow first attended a chess club in Gukowo when he was five years old. He studied at the Rostov Institute for Automation and Mechanical Engineering. He now lives in Saint Petersburg and is married to Irina Turowa (née Slavina), who, in addition to the title of Grand Master of Women (WGM), also holds the title of International Master (IM).

Turow won or occupied top places in many tournaments: 1st place at the First Saturday GM tournament Budapest (November 1996), 2nd place at the First Saturday GM tournament Budapest (August 1997), 3rd place at the Russian U-20 junior championship in Sochi (1998), 1st place at the COQ Open in Québec (2001), 1st place at the 28th Elekes Memorial in Budapest (2003), 2nd place at the First Saturday GM Tournament Budapest (December 2005), 1st place at the Open in Dieren (2005 and 2011), 2nd place at the First Saturday GM tournament Budapest (June 2003), 1st place at the Open Polar Circle in Salekhard (2008), 1st place at the BDO-A tournament in Haarlem (2008) and 1st place Place at the 2nd Open in Chennai 2010. In January 2012 he won the C group of the Tata Steel chess tournament with 10.5 points from 13 games.

In the Russian team championship Turow played in 1996 for Don-Sdjuschor Rostow-on-Don , in 2006, 2008 and 2009 for the team from Saint Petersburg , with which he also took part in the European Club Cup in 2008 and 2009. In the Austrian Bundesliga he played in the 2010 / 11 for SK Advisory Invest Baden , in the Norwegian Eliteserien in the 2014/15 season for Tromsø Sjakklub .
