Maxime Zuber (born May 23, 1963 in Délemont ) is a Swiss politician ( PSA ).

Life

Zuber is the son of a carpenter and grew up in a large family of ardent separatists . As a student he met Roland Béguelin , the father of the Jurassic separatist movement, and joined the separatists. Zuber became a doctor of mathematics , a professor at the University of Neuchâtel and a high school teacher. From the 1990s until the end of 2016 he was mayor of Moutier . He was re-elected a total of five times in this office. In addition, he has been a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern for the constituency of the Bernese Jura since June 1, 2006, where he is a member of the SP -JUSO-PSA parliamentary group .

In November 2013, Zuber, who is President of the PSA, and his two party colleagues Jean-Pierre Aellen and Irma Hirschi caused a scandal in the Grand Council when they left the Grand Council chamber in protest against Bernese flags on their desks, as this was “both one and the same for the PSA unnecessary and contemptuous affront ”. In a reaction by the SVP to a regional vote on November 24, 2013, in which 71.8% of the voters in the Bernese Jura spoke out against the merger with the Canton of Jura, the flags were set up without consulting the President of the Grand Council. Zuber himself is known for hoisting the flag of the canton of Jura instead of the flag of the canton of Bern.
