Life

Hirschi grew up in a farming family with eight children in a village in the Tavannes Valley . She came from a probern family and attended secondary school. At the age of 20 she met her future partner, a Jurassic separatist, and through him came into contact with the Jurassic separatist scene. She later moved from home and settled in Moutier with her partner . Hirschi took part in demonstrations and street battles and was arrested. After the creation of the Canton of Jura , she became secretary of the Unité Jurassienne , which is committed to integrating the Bernese Jura into the Canton of Jura. In Moutier, she was co-founder of the Le Rauraque list , which in 1982 replaced the probable majority in the city government. Hirschi became a member of the city government. After the first term, she resigned to look after her two children. Twenty years later she resumed her political career and was again a member of the municipal government ( conseil municipal ) of Moutier, this time for the Parti socialiste autonome du Sud du Jura . In addition, she has been a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern for the constituency of the Bernese Jura since June 1, 2006, and she is a member of the SP -JUSO-PSA parliamentary group there .

In November 2013, Hirschi and her two party colleagues Maxime Zuber and Jean-Pierre Aellen caused an uproar in the Grand Council when they left the Grand Council chamber in protest against Bernese flags on their desks, as this represented “an unnecessary and despicable affront” for the PSA would. The flags were set up in a reaction by the SVP to a regional vote on November 24, 2013 in which 71.8% of the voters in the Bernese Jura were against the merger with the Canton of Jura, without consulting the President of the Grand Council.

Hirschi works as secretary of the Mouvement Autonomiste Jurassien .
