The Maximilian Kolbe School in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz is the vocational high school for the district of Neumarkt in Oberpfalz . Currently, around 850 students attend a total of 35 grades 11 to 13 as well as the BOS preliminary classes in the fields of business, technology and social affairs. In 2008, 12% of the school's high school graduates originally came from secondary school.
history
In 1971 the vocational high school was founded in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate. It was only named after Maximilian Kolbe at the end of the 1980s .
The new school building on Kerschensteinerstraße was built in 1998 after the old location on Theo-Betz-Platz had been converted into a special needs school. Since then it has been expanded twice due to the steadily increasing number of students.
Due to the proximity and the lack of offers there, numerous students from the districts of Roth and Nürnberger Land also attend this school.
The school principal has been Markus Domeier since 2014.
School projects
Since a school project in January 2009 it has been allowed to call itself " School without Racism - School with Courage ". Donations for children in Mexico are collected in an annual Christmas market that the students design themselves.
The school also participates in the Socrates and Comenius projects of the European Union.
The Maximilian-Kolbe-Schule also functions as an IT consulting school for Eastern Bavaria. This means that it offers IT courses for administrative employees and develops concepts for networking schools. Therefore, in 2007, she received a visit from a delegation for the digitization of Chinese education from the Chinese State Council.
School newspaper Maxmodul
The school newspaper Maxmodul, which can only be viewed online, has already received numerous awards due to its high standard. In 2007 she came in first and in 2008 third in the Spiegel school newspaper competition.
