Maximilian Kern

Maximilian Kern ( pseudonym : Beowulf , born May 5, 1877 in Böhmisch Wiesenthal , † around 1945 in Berlin ) was a German journalist and writer .

Life

At the beginning of the 20th century Maxmilian Kern worked for the youth magazine " Der Gute Kamerad ", but also wrote for the youth book series Das Neue Universum . Later he worked for Ullstein-Verlag ; until 1929 he worked there as editor-in-chief of the magazine " Koralle ". From 1905, Kern published a series of exotic adventure books for boys, which appeared in the "Kamerad-Bibliothek" of the Stuttgart Union-Verlag . These books achieved large editions and some of them - in edited form - appeared until the 1950s. Maximilian Kern's most successful work is the handicraft book Selbst ist der Mann , published in 1908 , which later appeared with co-author Oskar Grissemann up to the 53rd edition until 1931.
