Maximilian Pfender
Maximilian Pfender (born August 21, 1907 in the Upper Swabian region ; † November 7, 2001 ) was a German engineer . From 1947 to 1972 he headed the Federal Institute for Materials Testing and its predecessor facility.
Life
Maximilian Pfender studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Stuttgart , where he received his doctorate with distinction in 1938. From 1940 to 1945 he worked at the AEG research institute in Berlin. In 1945 he moved to the Dahlem Materials Testing Office, the predecessor institution of the Federal Institute for Materials Testing, which he took over as head in 1947 and held it until 1972. In 1954, he was accepted into the civil service as chief government director .
