Maximilian Schick
Maximilian Schick ( Russian Максимилиан Яковлевич Шик ; born April 12 . Jul / 24. April 1884 greg. In Moscow , † 8. February 1968 ) was a Russian-German literary scholar and translator.
Life
Schick lived in Berlin from 1892 to 1907 , where he studied at the Friedrich Wilhelms University until 1906 . He was a member of Herwarth Walden's "Association for Art" and was close to the Moscow Art Theater in 1906 when it made a guest appearance in Germany.
From 1907 he lived again in Moscow and worked as a ballet critic. During the Second World War he was involved in the NKFD .
He was also important as a translator into German. He was Gorky's first German translator and translated poetry by Pushkin , Lermontow , Taras Shevchenko , Alexander Blok and Anna Akhmatova, as well as prose by Alexei Tolstoy , Leonid Leonow , Konstantin Paustowski and Valentin Katajew , among others .
