Maximilian Weber

Maximilian Weber (born August 8, 1866 in Deggendorf , † May 14, 1944 in Munich ) was a German mineralogist and geologist.

Weber, the son of a brewery owner, initially studied medicine at the universities of Munich , Würzburg and Rostock . After receiving his doctorate in 1890, he worked as a general practitioner and ship's doctor on routes to Brazil. In 1896 he began studying mineralogy , geology and petrography in Munich. After doctorate in 1899 and habilitation in 1900, he became associate professor for mineralogy and geology at the TH Munich in 1908. 1921–1931 he taught at the Univ. Munich. Important publications include Introduction to Crystal Optics (1908 and 1926) and “Metamorphic Strangers in Solidification Rocks” (1910).
