Joseph Gregor Winck (also Joseph Gregor Wink ) (baptized May 8, 1710 in Deggendorf ; † April 11, 1781 in Hildesheim ) was a German painter and plasterer .

Life

Winck was possibly a student of Giambattista Tiepolo or Cosmas Damian Asam and probably completed his apprenticeship years in Augsburg and Holland. However, no works by him could be found in southern Germany. He worked in Mannheim until 1743 . In 1743 he was commissioned by the Hildesheim Cathedral Chapter to paint the knights' hall of the cathedral with allegorical ceiling frescoes . In 1753 he married Maria Anna Albers, the sister of the cathedral pastor in his adopted home Hildesheim, who bore him four children. At that time he was the only significant fresco painter in northern Germany. Many of Wink's works were destroyed before or during World War II.

Winck was married to Maria geb. Albers. The classical architect Joseph Bernhard Winck (1754–1812) was his son.
