Maxxis is the brand name of the Taiwanese tire manufacturer Cheng Shin ( Han script : 正 新). The company makes tires for cars, motorcycles, bicycles, ATVs , wheelchairs, industrial applications and trailers. Cheng Shin now ranks 9th among the world's largest tire manufacturers.

Cheng Shin was founded in Taiwan in 1967 and is now one of the world's largest tire manufacturers. The company sells its products in Europe, South and North America and Asia. In total, over 22,000 people work at Maxxis' manufacturing companies. Cheng Shin China (Xiamen) was the first tire manufacturer in China to achieve ISO certification in 1994 . The factory in Taiwan has been ISO certified since 1993.

Production and working conditions

In addition to production facilities in Taiwan, Cheng Shin has production facilities in China ( Xiamen , Shanghai Special Economic Zone , Chongqing ), Thailand and Vietnam . Today around 22,000 employees work in the company's plants and sales worldwide.

In 2011, 2000 workers at the Cheng Shin plant in Thailand walked from Rayong to the capital Bangkok to demonstrate for fair pay . In 2009, the company had made $ 1.56 billion but made no concessions on wages, according to workers. On November 25, 2009, Cheng Shin stopped all machines at his Thai plant and refused to pay his 2,500 Thai workers. Union officials learned that the company had recruited foreign workers and contractors to further reduce labor costs.

Sponsorship

Maxxis International supports (as of 2012) various sports teams around the world: in American baseball, the New York Yankees , the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Washington Nationals . Maxxis also sponsors Liverpool FC in the English Premier League and the Frisk Asker Tigers team in Norwegian ice hockey . In Germany, Maxxis has been supporting young MX teams who are already using Maxxis tires for several years .

In addition to sponsoring teams, Maxxis is also an advertising partner for individual major events, such as B. the Australia Open , which is one of the largest sporting events in the southern hemisphere. In German-speaking countries, Maxxis is involved as a Classic Partner for the Techniker Beach Tour , the highest German beach volleyball series. Maxxis Germany also equips some individual athletes such as Stefan Herrmann, Tobias Wrobel, Katrin Posterer, Michael Meisel and Kai Saaler .
